Soccer Analyst Sutton Faces Off Against Artist Murs in Top Flight Forecasts
Arsenal's 10-game winning streak came to an end by the Black Cats before the global hiatus, however can the English top division leaders bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?
"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."
Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this season, versus AI, readers and a variety of guests.
In the twelfth round, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.
The singer's new record, the new release, is available on the weekend.
Soccer and Family Experiences
Olly is a talented footballer as well as a successful artist and has been a star of several Soccer Aid matches over time - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a footballer.
"{I recently played in a charity match the other night for a mate of mine," he said. "My side was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!
"I continue to love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or boy decides to play instead."
The singer and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, their daughter and their son, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.
"I won't push football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be managing their weekend soccer side," he said.
"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a soccer team for a while too.
"My dad did it with us when I was a child, which is likely where I inherited it. He managed our side for several years and had great fun with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Top Division Forecasts
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea might have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's comeback from injury but their attack is already stronger with Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.
I still think this fixture will be fairly close, however. Burnley are well organised and their sole home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.
It suggests a one-all tie to me, but I am in fact going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.
The expert's forecast: 1-2
Olly's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3
AI's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have lost their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.
In contrast, West Ham won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear competitive again.
The Hammers' only away win this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's coach.
So, what on earth do I predict here - will it be the Hammers continuing their streak under Nuno, or the home side bouncing back?
I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.
Sutton's forecast: 2-0
Olly's prediction: The home team are doing well but West Ham have improved under Nuno. 2-2
The algorithm's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were seen as one of the favourites for the drop before the season started, but they have impressed a several observers under their manager and are in good form with three wins in their last four matches.
My son told me to select Bees striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks back and, guess what, I ignored the advice.
The forward will probably find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support the away side at Brighton's ground.
They have not had much fortune on the road this term, and Brighton are consistently decent at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to attack on the break but I think the home manager's team pose much more of a danger.
Sutton's forecast: 2-1
The singer's view: It could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a many scores but it actually proves to be rather close. 1-1
The computer's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a massive fixture for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six matches.
They have have lots of quality in their squad but it still feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone battle.
Regarding Sunderland, well they are the unexpected success of the top flight season so far.
The away side's performance in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We've not witnessed any other team disrupt the North London side like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.
The sensible thing would be to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously able of roughing the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the close of October.
However I am not choose that. Rather, I really need to continue going against the away team with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they evidently love to prove me wrong.
Considering Fulham's home record, the only team they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's team will be absolutely eager for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.
Sutton's prediction: 1-0
The guest's choice: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that the hosts are on a poor run... but they have still been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0
The algorithm's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a tough fixture to call. The Reds have lost seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but might they be among the sides who profit from the {international break|
