"All my colleagues has been giving me grief regarding the concluded contest for the last two weeks," commented one sibling.

"We always thought that we would have a meaningful contest by the time we arrived."

Lowered Expectations

Optimism was high about England's chances of breaking a 15-year drought for a triumph on Australian soil ahead of the tour.

Yet now they are staring down the barrel of prolonging a streak without victory in the country to 19 consecutive Tests when the Boxing Day Test begins in the MCG on Christmas Day.

The tourists - and their supporters - will be keen to prevent a dreaded 5-0 scoreline.

It was mentioned that the "excitement and fun" of head coach the positive style of play in recent years had "renewed interest in" the five-day game for English supporters.
