Followers Call for Arrest of Individual Who Touched Ariana Grande
Devoted supporters of Ariana Grande are calling for that a person who jumped a barricade and grabbed the celebrity during yesterday's Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or deported from Singapore.
A circulating clip shows the Australian man pushing past camera operators and charging at Grande while the cast proceeded down a promenade flanked by onlookers.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the surprised performer away from Mr Wen, who was seen being led away of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being arrested", though legal records showed that he was scheduled to attend court on the next day. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.
Pattern of Disruptions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account includes recordings of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including breaching the performance area at the artist's Sydney performance in recently and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers event in the area last year.
"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is evidently a criminal offence," wrote an Instagram user, in a message to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user wrote.
Supporters Express Concern Over Grande's Safety
Many supporters accused Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the conclusion of her 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming hundreds.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said one more response on Instagram.
Some supporters also faulted guards at the gathering for not being adequately prepared; while different individuals called for online networks to ban Mr Wen's uploads.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In footage shared widely, Grande looked startled when she was approached by the individual. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the rest of the event carried on uninterrupted.
Many of supporters had assembled in a mass of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it commenced.
The movie, to be released on 21 November, is the sequel of a two-part interpretation of the acclaimed stage show Wicked, which revolves around the unexpected friendship between two distinct characters.
The musical itself is a spin-off of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was decked out in a rosé sequin dress at the event while Erivo, who portrays the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress decorated with roses.
They were alongside co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of last year in the UK, and received ten Academy Award nods, securing several for best costume and production design.
