Arne Slot Insists He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Loss

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was natural for doubts to be raised about his position after a further heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in twelve games, representing the team's worst streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received plenty of backing from the top,” Slot stated.

“It's important to change things and secure a win of course but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “Through standard discussions I perceive the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over recurring failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side going through a spell like this with outcomes this poor.”

He finished, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And as long as it is taken away, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to get this team back to the top, prove once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
