The Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Matchup With defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder was instrumental for the Astros winning the World Series in 2017.

The Toronto Blue Jays earned a spot in their first World Series since the 1993 season by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the AL Championship Series.

Trailing three runs to one, Springer hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning, leading the Toronto squad in the majors to a 4-3 win in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, the team that is the reigning title, in the anticipated Fall Classic.

"It's incredible for this squad, our city, our country," Springer stated, a key player of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "This is such an amazing experience."

George Springer has now connected for 23 total playoff homers, making him third all-time behind Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"I can't think of another player in the world that I'd prefer in that situation besides him with his post-season brilliance," said manager John Schneider.

Seattle, who had led the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the one club that has never reached in a World Series.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "certainly that it hurts" after his side's defeat at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but commended their work this season.

"It's a special team. Sadly that we finished on the unsuccessful side of this game," he remarked.

Toronto's team won the title on their two prior appearances in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Dodgers in game one on this Friday.
