Nigel Farage Accuses Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues
Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by instructing students that black pupils are victims and white children oppressors.
At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, Farage outlined his perspective on British schools, stating that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I’m anticipating a walkout by educators very quickly after winning the next general election,” he remarked during a Q&A session.
“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They are dividing us, not uniting us. They are feeding this negative culture.”
Reacting to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede rejected the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.
“The politician has crafted his political career on dog-whistle politics and currently, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a fight,” Kebede stated.
“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”
The party, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has provided limited specifics on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have designated an education lead.
However, Farage’s remarks suggested the party would overhaul the educational framework. He said: “We have got a massive job with schooling – absolutely herculean. And, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”
Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.
Honoring Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind rather than what’s happening now where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”
The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
The politician has charged the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned at school, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.
Roughly a million individuals work in schools in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has about 450,000 members.
Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for children.
At the US event, Farage also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He said organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, noting: “I mean this. I’ll assist garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to these educational programs. I pledge this now and I will follow through.”
The college, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. According to its online description: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of freedom. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for free to every interested learner.”
