Almost 55,000 families have so far been harmed by the storms, with their belongings and shelters ruined.

Intense rains over the last seven days have worsened the extremely difficult living conditions of the many hundreds of thousands of uprooted residents in the region, as reported by aid groups.

"Horrendous" Conditions Poses Grave Risks

A spokesman detailed the previous night's conditions as "terrible", with rain so heavy that up to 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the streets.

"These conditions was exceptionally horrendous for the people. The downpours were so powerful... And the winds were so powerful," stated the spokesperson.

There is significant concern that children sheltering in tents in damp garments will succumb to hypothermia and various ailments.

Deaths and Significant Destruction

The health ministry have reported that one baby has died from hypothermia and a minimum of 11 other people have died in structural failures due to the harsh conditions.

Other reports suggest a increased fatality count. Spokespeople said that multiple homes had collapsed completely and dozens had collapsed partially.

  • Roughly 55,000 families affected by flooding.
  • More than 40 designated safe spaces submerged.
  • Many people forced to move once more.

Relief Operations Deemed Not Enough

Organizations have stepped up shipments of tarpaulins, warm covers and clothing after the halt in hostilities started, but they emphasize there is continues to be not enough aid getting in.

"Agencies are operating tirelessly to provide that relief and to hand it out, but the size of the requirements is so vast that we still have many thousands of individuals and children who are genuinely struggling nightly," stated one official.

Ongoing Challenges and Agreement Provisions

The subsequent part of the agreement involves proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the withdrawal of troops, and other terms.

Humanitarian bodies have stressed the necessity for "greater and continuous relief to address urgent and future requirements."

The war was triggered by an attack in the autumn of 2023. Later campaigns have led to a high number of fatalities in the territory, as per health ministry reports.
