Beloved Performer Pat Finn, Recognized For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Passes Away at the Age of Sixty.

American entertainer Pat Finn, who appeared in popular TV shows including Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has died aged 60.

The skilled improv artist passed away at his residence in LA on Monday having undergone treatment for cancer since 2022, per reports.

"He never met a stranger - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones stated in a statement.

They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".

A Prolific Career on Screen

His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.

He also had a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, portraying a host famous for delegating tedious tasks to his guests.

During the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous well-known programs, like:

  • King of Queens
  • "Friends"
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House, M.D.

His most famous role for portraying the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight series from 2011 to 2018.

His cinematic roles are "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

Off-Screen Life

Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was part of a comedy group of six named Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.

Offering condolences, colleague and actor Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote on social media.

The actor is remembered by his spouse Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
